These are fine ceramic restorations glued to the buccal (visible) side of the tooth. They require removing about 0.5mm of enamel at this level of the tooth, making it the least invasive ceramic restoration. In some cases, the tooth can be covered by the facet without preparation, ie without touching the tooth at all (film facets).
The facets remain the “gold standard” for improving one’s smile: thanks to them, the color but also the shape and the texture of the teeth can be modified durably without weakening them.
